Excess Baggage Payments For India Handcarry Exports

2016-11-09

The Indian Government has overnight, and without any prior warning, removed the INR500 and INR1000 currency banknotes from circulation. All banks are also closed today 09th November in India and ATM machines are not dispensing cash nationwide.

As such, there are extreme limitations on the availability of cash in India at the present time. As cash is the most commonly utilised payment method in the country this may have consequences for excess baggage payments to airlines on export shipments via Handcarry mode. Import shipments are not affected.

As such, if any of our client base are expecting to have upcoming Handcarry exports from India please try to provide us with as much prior notice as possible in order to prepare accordingly.

Tropical Storm Koppu - Philippines

2015-10-24

Royale International advises all customers that Tropical Storm Koppu has developed in the Western Pacific about 380 miles north of Yap in the Federated States of Micronesia. The weather system is moving west at about 12 mph bringing sustained winds of 40 mph and gusts of over 50 mph.

Koppu is expected to strengthen over the next few days and could become a powerful typhoon by the time it reaches northern Luzon Island of The Philippines early on Saturday October 17th.

If the storm maintains its projected path and strength, strong winds and heavy rain are likely across much of Luzon Island, including Metro Manila.

Royale International will monitor the situation closely and update customers as necessary.

If you have any questions or urgent requirements during this spell of bad weather please contact Royale Customer Service department for assistance.

Hurricane Patricia - Mexcio

2015-10-24

Royale International advises that Hurricane Patricia, measured as a category 5 (the strongest on record), has made landfall in Jalisco state in western Mexico, and there will be severe disruption to all deliveries and collections in western Mexico for the next 48 hours.

A state of emergency has been declared in three states in Patricia's path - Jalisco, Nayarit and Colima. Mexican authorities evacuated thousands of residents along the country's Pacific coast before the hurricane hit.

The hurricane is heading in a north east direction over the weekend, expected to hit the USA and Texas on Sunday night.

Royale will monitor closely however if you have any immediate urgent requirements or questions please do not hesitate to contact Royale Customer Service or your account manager.

Severe Weather Warning United States

2015-10-05

Strong winds and very heavy rainfall, from a slow-moving rainstorm, have caused severe flooding in at least seven states across the east coast United States since Friday.
The heaviest rainfall has been experienced in southeastern and northeastern Georgia, southeastern and western North Carolina, and nearly all of South Carolina.

A number of highway and interstate closures have been implemented and emergency officials continue to discourage all travel across many parts of South Carolina on October 5.

The storm system is forecast to continue to bring torrential rain to South Carolina and bordering states through at least October 5. Charleston may receive an accumulated rainfall total of up to 24 inches by the time the storm moves off the Atlantic coast.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued coastal flood watches and warnings from Long Island, New York down to eastern Florida.

Royale International advises clients with requirements during this time to contact our Customer Service team for advice and solutions for your shipping needs.

Hurricane Joaquin Updates

2015-10-03

Hurricane Joaquin remains a Category 4 hurricane bringing maximum sustained winds of 130 mph and gusts of 160 mph. The system is currently located 25 miles south-southwest of San Salvador Bahamas and is moving toward the north at 5 mph.
A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the central Bahamas, northwestern Bahamas including the Abacos, Berry Islands, Eleuthera, Grand Bahama Island, New Providence and the Acklins, Crooked Island, and Mayaguana in the southeastern Bahamas.
A Hurricane Watch is in effect for Bimini and Andros Island.
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the remainder of the southeastern Bahamas including the Turks and Caicos Islands, Andros Island, Cuban provinces of Camaguey, Las Tunas, Holguin, and Guantanamo.
A Tropical Storm Warning or Hurricane Watch may be issued in Bermuda later today.
On the forecast track, the core of the strongest winds of Joaquin will continue moving over portions of the central and northwestern Bahamas today. Hurricane conditions are expected to continue through Friday before the system starts to move away from the Bahamas Friday night and Saturday.
Rainfall amounts of 7-14 inches are expected across the central and southeastern Bahamas through Friday with isolated amounts of up to 20 inches. Most interisland flights in the central Bahamas were canceled Oct. 1.
The latest model trends are now pushing Joaquin more out to sea, but a landfall along the East Coast is still possible, although less likely. While uncertainty remains in the exact track, coastal flooding will be a significant threat from the Carolinas northward into New England through the weekend. Areas from the mid-Atlantic to the central Appalachians and the Carolinas will experience the heaviest rainfall amounts.
Virginia, North Carolina and New Jersey have all declared a state of emergency in advance of the storm, warning residents that the predicted severe weather could be significant.
A turn to the northeast will occur early next week and Joaquin could travel well southeast of New England and Nova Scotia. If Joaquin travels farther east than the current track, Bermuda could experience heavy rain and strong winds at the end of the weekend.
Travelers are advised to contact their airline in advance of departure to confirm flight status and Royale expects delays to collections and deliveries in all affected locations.

If you have any urgent requirements or questions please contact Royale International CS for advice.

Western Pacific - Typhoon Dujuan

2015-09-29

Typhoon Dujuan has strengthened into a Category 4 equivalent typhoon bringing maximum sustained winds of 145 mph and gusts of 175 mph. The system is located approximately 162 miles west of Taipei, Taiwan and is moving west-northwestward at 12 mph.

Dujuan is forecast to bring flooding rain and damaging winds to the southern Ryukyu Islands of Japan through Monday.

Dujuan made landfall on Taiwan Monday evening local time bringing strong winds and rain that resulted in flooding and landslides.

By later Monday night and Tuesday, Dujuan is moving into eastern China bringing flooding rainfall and damaging winds. Dujuan will weaken significantly as it moves inland across China Tuesday morning local time.

Towards the end of the week, Dujuan may merge with another storm system and bring heavy wind and strong rain to the Korean Peninsula and Japan.
Flight disruptions, collections and deliveries are possible at Hualien (HUN), Taoyuan (TPE), and Taipei Songshan (TSA) airports.

Please contact Royale International for updates and service level capabilities.

We are looking to have complete conversion to the online method for all customers by August 1st, 2015.

If any customers are unsure on how to use the system we have provided a user guide - CLICK HERE and our sales representatives will be happy to demonstrate how to use the software.

We thank you for your cooperation.

White Collar Boxing Event Followup

2015-03-18

On Saturday March 14th, our very own Scott Morson took part in the IPP white collar boxing evening held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. The event raises money for the Children’s Surgical Centre in Cambodia http://www.csc.org

Happy to report that Scott came through his fight in one piece and also victorious, defeating his opponent convincingly in the three round bout. The grueling 3 month training program clearly paid dividends as Scott delivered left jab after left jab to rattle his opposite number and the judges verdict was quite rightly a unanimous one.

Well done to Scott on this great achievement and we look forward to the next time one of the Royale International plucks up the courage to step into the ring!

Royale International advises all customers that the Philippines is currently experiencing heavy rainfall that is causing severe flooding in northern areas.

Several domestic flights from Manila have been cancelled and Customs operations have been suspended at MNL NAIA Airport. Regular air freight shipments have been suspended for this evening and will resume tomorrow morning.

The weather bureau lowered its rainfall warning to yellow at 15:15 PM this afternoon after initially lowering to orange, the second-highest in a three-color scale, in Manila and nearby provinces at 9:15 a.m. this morning as heavy to intense rainfall from Tropical Storm Trami enhanced the monsoon weather. The alert level was raised to red, the highest warning, at 9 p.m. yesterday and renewed at 6:15 a.m. today.

Royale International will continue to be available for inquiries and orders and will resume collections and deliveries as soon as the flooding has cleared.

BT Outward Bound Adventure Race 2013

2013-03-11

It was an early start on Sunday as four intrepid adventurers from Royale International gathered in Causeway Bay for the 0715am registration of the 2013 Outward Bound Adventure Race. The team comprised of John Fawcett, Dean Locke, Wayne Griffiths and Philip Murton, set off on the gun at 0800 on a 15.5km course that was undisclosed to competitors prior. Following blue ribbons placed along the route the race started with a run up to Tai Hang Road before heading into the foliage and climbing up a river gorge in Tai Tam Country Park.

A tough ascent through the undergrowth was then followed by a sharp, slippery descent to the Tai Tam reservoir where an orienteering challenge was completed, aided by former orienteering county champion Fawcett. A further hour of clambering over rocks and running through storm drains saw the team emerge on the beach at Deepwater Bay. A challenging 5-legged-race challenge was then completed (4 competitors with legs strapped together!) before a run around the headland and a swim in the icy waters of the South China Sea across to Middle Island.

On Middle Island we hopped into ocean kayaks to head over to South Bay with a brief interlude involving Murton clambering on board a yacht before having to walk the plank and dive 20 ft into the rather dirty waters off Repulse Bay. After making landfall at South Bay it was another long, arduous climb up the granite slopes before finally descending down into Stanley to see the welcome sight of the finish line. Our time was a remarkably impressive 5 hours and 5 minutes placing us well up the field. No serious injuries, multiple aches, pains, cuts and bruises but a terrific day in the sun.

Royale International’s HKDC Mobsters Manila Nomads Veterans Tournament 2013

2013-02-27

HKDC Mobsters Veterans team proudly sponsored by the Royale International Group were pleased to represent the company at the 99th Manila Nomads 7 a side Veterans Football Tournament held over the weekend 23-24th February. Sides from Germany, Australia, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Singapore and The Philippines flocked to one of the oldest tournaments in SE Asia.

On Saturday the Mobsters played 3 group matches in blistering heat. First up were the Howzat Oldies sponsors of the Tournament from Manila and the Mobsters ran out 5-1 winners gaining a very valuable bonus point for 4 goals scored, next came The Hong Kong Swiss who were dispatched 2-0. Third and final game of the day came ADB Manila who also went down 2-0.

On Sunday the Mobsters faced fierce Hong Kong rivals Team Bondi. It was a tight fought game as the heat again bore down at + 85 . Neither team could break the deadlock and the game ended 0-0. Team Bondi’s joy at finishing second in the group was shortlived as on the other pitch Hong Kong Swiss scored a late goal to pip Team Bondi to second place.
The Quarter-Final loomed and the Mobsters faced the Hosts The Manila Nomads. A very partisan crowd appeared as the Mobster dug deep and won 2-0. The Semi-Final against Beijing Real Ancient was in the balance until the last few minutes when two quick goals won the game for the Mobsters.

The Final was against the only other unbeaten team in the tournament Dutch Boys United.

This was an incredibly close game and only the skills of both Keepers especially the Mobsters Simon Maher kept the game goalless. The final whistle blew at 0-0 so a 4 minute Golden Goal Extra Time loomed but only 3 players could stay on the pitch. This also was a tight session but with only a few seconds remaining the Mobsters Matt Carr took the ball from the half way line and let loose with what can only be described as a thunderbolt into the top left of the goal, it was so fast it actually ripped a hole in the net, the Dutch Boys keeper left flailing at air. The Mobsters bench erupted and finally they were Champions again.

The Mobsters Keeper Simon Maher was voted Goalkeeper of the Tournament, Andy Archer scored 7 goals but missed out on the Top Scorer award by one. It was a proud moment for all watching to see our Captain John Fawcett raise the Trophy.
Many thanks to the Nomads for organizing again an absolute cracker of a tournament and the Mobsters are looking forward to defending their title at The Centenary tournament in 2014.

Royale International Soccer 7’s Results

2012-05-29

For the third year running, Royale International welcomed a team of Nottingham Forest veterans over to play in the Citibank Soccer 7's tournament at the HK Football Club. A hybrid team of former Forest legends and a handful of Royale's own footballing legends joined ranks under the guise of the Nottingham Forest Mobsters.

The tournament began on Friday evening with a game against rivals the HKFC Chairman's Select. Despite taking an early lead the game finished at 1-1 after a free kick levelled the tie for HKFC. Saturday saw some attrocious weather but some sparkling football as the Mobsters recorded a 3-0 victory over Thai visotors Bangkok Airways followed by a convincing 1-0 victory over the Citibank All Stars who featured Ali McCoist and Lorenzo Amoruso in their side. This put the Mobsters into the main cup competition quarter finals for the Sunday with a draw against HKFC veterans side.

Sunday saw further torrential rain but that didnt stop the Mob from dispatching HKFC 1-0 and taking us to the semi-finals for the first time. Opponents were Top Class FC, a team made up of former Hong Kong international players. Despite taking a 2-0 lead, Top Class drew level with a late equaliser and the game went to 4-a-side sudden death. In what has been voted the most entertaining match of the tournament, possession changed hands 5 times, the woodwork was struck once and Des Lyttle in the Mobsters goal pulled off two breathtaking saves. Alas, it was not to be as Top Class finally found the net to end the Mobsters challenge for 2012. We look forward to next years competition with the aim of going one step further.

Guidelines Reminder for Shipments to Poland

2011-10-18

Dear Valued Customers,

This is a friendly reminder for all your shipments and attached invoices going to Poland.

Please follow the guidelines listed below:

1. When sending sample shipments, all samples must include a “SAMPLE INVOICE” and all samples must be MUTILATED or CHOPPED “SAMPLE”

a. For garment samples- a cut hole or a tear has to be visible on the sample garment. The word “SAMPLE” must be chopped on the outside of the sample in a prominent position. You will need to include that “All Samples are marked with Sample Chop” on your invoice.

b. For shoe samples – a hole must be drilled ALL THE WAY through the sole. The sample shoes must be marked “SAMPLE”. You will need to include that “All Samples are marked with Sample Chop” on your invoice.

c. For other items (belts, bags, wallets, toys, etc) - “SAMPLE” must be chop marked on them. You will need to include that “All Samples are marked with Sample Chop” on your invoice.

2. For non-samples shipments, please clearly declare a realistic commercial value with a “COMMERCIAL INVOICE.”

The above guidelines were provided by Polish Customs for the purpose of smooth clearance. If mutilation upon importation is not done, shipments are undervalued, excess goods are found in the shipment, or contents found in the shipment do not match with the invoice, a penalty may be issued and possible delays to delivery.

Best Regards,

Notice : Beijing/Shanghai Airport Security Upgrade (Level 2)

2011-08-31

Beginning at midnight, August 29, the China Civil Aviation authority surprised many travelers by raising its security standard to level 2 at Shanghai and Beijing airports. This means passengers face higher chances of being asked to remove shoes and belts. At least 50 percent of passengers will be asked to open their carry-on bags for thorough searches. Similar security measures were carried out during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.

The China Civil Aviation did not publicly announce the security upgrade. The stiffer checks created immense queues of unprepared passengers outside checkpoints at Beijing Capital International Airport. The CAA has not given any reason for the sudden change in protocol.

Whilst regular courier shipments will remain unaffected, handcarry or onboard courier shipments departing from these ports will be subject to the same scrutiny. Handcarry clients are therefore advise to take note of the current situation and allow for additional time at check in. Our handcarry team will of course take this in to account and notify clients at the quotation stage on suitable flight schedules.

New ICS Procedures in Europe

2010-12-31

Under Europe’s Community Customs Code a new Import Control System (ICS) will come into effect on January 1st, 2011 within the EU (and also Switzerland and Norway).

ICS is an electronic security management system which enables customs authorities to assess the security risk on imports by analysing electronic data prior to the physical arrival of the shipment. This new regulation applies to all modes of transport (air, road, sea, and rail) and will apply to all shipments originating outside of the 27 EU member states plus Switzerland and Norway.

Royale Asia will ensure all such data is transferred to the relevant authorities in the required timeframes and not require any additional data input from our customers. The new system may initially result in more frequent security checks as customs authorities are currently operating on high alert levels but we have taken all the required steps to ensure a smooth transition.

1. When sending samples shipments, all samples must include a “SAMPLE INVOICE” and all samples must be MUTILATED.

a. For garment samples- a 26mm diameter cut hole or a 51 mm (length) tear has to be visible on the sample garment. The word “SAMPLE” must be marked on the outside of the sample in a prominent position.

b. For shoe samples - 2cm hole must be drilled ALL THE WAY through the sole. The sample shoes must be marked “Sample not for resale”. You will also need to add an additional remark on your invoice stating that “All samples are mutilated.”

China Customs Update

2010-09-14

Dear Customers,

Please find below an update on the current China customs regulations for import shipments into China. Any additional questions can be raised with our customer service team on 2318 0370 or cs@royaleasia.com

KJ1
Document shipments.

KJ2
This category is for tax-exempt goods. This is only valid for goods that are valued below RMB50.
No branded goods are allowed to enter China via KJ2 method, even if mutilated. The brand name/label will have to be completely removed to enable brand name items to clear as KJ2 class low value samples. Samples with brand names will be considered above RMB50 in value by customs and have to be cleared as KJ3 goods.
If there is any under valuation and/or miss-declaration of commodity discovered then the shipment will be held until further confirmation is received from origin.
Invoices must clearly detail the specification of the commodity, value, model number, purpose of use and HS code.

KJ3
This category is for dutiable samples. For goods valued between RMB50-5000.
Invoices must clearly detail the specification of the commodity, value, model number, purpose of use and HS code.
Consignee must also have the import right for such items and be able to provide their 10 digit customs code for clearance.
Tax and duty will be levied against such shipments.

KJ4
Formal Import of shipment into China.
Full paperwork must be provided by shipper detailing specification of the commodity, value, model number, purpose of use and HS code.
Consignee must also have the import right for such items and be able to provide their 10 digit customs code for clearance and hold the relevant product import licenses.

Currently shipments under KJ1 classification are not experiencing delays into China.
Under the KJ2 classification, multiple commodities are restricted and cannot be imported under normal KJ2 routing. Such commodities may not be thought of as traditionally sensitive and can include such mundane items as dental moulds, fishing equipment etc. Alternative solutions are available but transit times will be longer than usual due to customs inspection backlogs. Current clearance times fro KJ3 and KJ4 imports are approximately 3-4 days from Hong Kong.

Please help support the Edwin Stevens Fundraiser

Edwin Stevens Fundraiser

Edwin Stevens is a 15 year old Hong Kong born boy who has a severe condition known as Ullrich Scleroatonic Muscular Dystrophy (USMD) which is a very rare form of muscular dystrophy that affects children from birth. Edwin has never walked and is currently confined to a wheelchair. As Edwin has grown older and has reached his teenage growth spurt, his body is no longer able to support itself and he now has spinal curvature in excess of 75 degrees. This has resulted in Edwin being in extreme discomfort and increasing pain and in addition it is becoming increasingly difficult for him to spend long periods of time in his wheelchair.

In order to correct the severe curvature, it is necessary for him to have major surgery. This will entail inserting a bracing rod into his spinal column from his neck to the base of his spine. The operation is not being covered by insurance and as you can imagine, this will be quite costly as it having to be done under the private health sector. His parents are long time Hong Kong residents and valued members of their community whose home is always open to anyone in need of friendship and support. Eddie is an intelligent, brave and very amusing young man who truly makes a difference. A close group of friends of Eddie’s parents have made a decision to take this out of their hands - they have enough to cope with. We’d really appreciate your support.
